We want to introduce you about our social service organization called “Sneha Hasthaalu”(means friendly hands) earlier “Friends for helping hands”. Our motto is to support education in the rural areas of India. We want to encourage poor children and their parents to send them to school, so that we can reduce the drop-outs as much as possible.
We a group of friends from our school and college formed an association and doing social service activities from the past 5 years. Initailly we concentrated on the individuals who needs financial support to continue their education, and still we are continuing them. All our active friends along with me in Bangalore are spending our valuable time in preparing methodologies, buying right things, building information, sharing thoughts and raising funds. We have adopted one school as a pilot project in the last academic year, 2011-12. As it turned a successful program we have got a confidence to do this in a bigger way. We have registered our group (Reg No : BK IV , 324/1172) as a trust with the name “SnehaHasthaalu” in the month of March 2012 in bengaluru.
Recently, we have adopted 11 primary/upper primary schools(1405) in a rural area of Atchampet Mandal, Guntur district, Andhrapradesh. We selected this place because it is known place to some of our friends, once we prove it and gain some confidence, we have plans to extend the same to other rural areas in Karnataka and Andhrapradesh too.
With the support & co-ordination of all school teachers, we are trying to implement the “SIKSHANA” (http://www.sikshana.org/) methodology in all these 11 schools and trying to provide basic needs(Books,Bags,Uniform.. etc) to nearly “1400 students”.
We are mainly focusing on students ability “to Read, to write, to compute, to express & to ask”. Trying to reduce the school dropouts by encouraging the parents and providing scholarships to meritorious students. with all your support we are going to provide Computers for all these schools and we have already got 6 and looking for 5 more.
